Unemployment Rate in Pakistan

According to the Government of Pakistan the current unemployment rate in Pakistan is 7.82 % which can be considered excellent when we look at the figures for 1998 which were 19.68. But lets now see how the current government defines unemployment. The Government considers anyone over the age of 10 (This age is according to the government of Pakistan's website on statistics) working 1 hour a week (This is according to an opposition Parliamentarians debate on this years Budget with no objections from the treasurury benches so I'm assuming this is also correct) to be employed. That's shameful.

It just goes to show that statistics are never absolute nor do they reflect the true picture. What a disgrace.

I know that statistic (I was working for the govt trying to develop Paki pensions for a year)... and I always thought the figure was too low! it is a disgrace, I agree. You should look at the inflation figure calculation as well... they say inflation is falling this year to 7%. hahahahahahahaha!

@ SS - don't be bad-mouthing 'statistics', okay? You just have to know what goes in... a phrase my stats professor used to repeat multiple times every semester "garbage in, garbage out". In case you didn't konw.... i'm a statistician!
