Success & Happiness

The children of the old rich and privileged are, if nothing else, polite. They are accultured early and know how to make conversations with adults. They'd rather not, of course, but they are learning early how to do things they don't want to do. They will be successful and unhappy adults.

Passage taken from "The Gold Coast" by Nelson Demille.

That is sooo true! I've been thinking about that recently, how we are raised and what effect it tends to have on us as adults. And more importantly, how it affects our relationships with our significant other.

Myself, am trying to be happy as well... but sometimes its difficult (and my parents aren't really that rich either).

very interesting and very true.. i understand all of it except the last bit about being "unhappy", perhaps you can elaborate.

Thanks Buj, It is human nature to question ones existance, ones way of life. There are somethings we do for our selves and some we do for others, this behaviour is prevalaent in most societies more so in south asia and most of the islamic world. Sometimes we do thing which do not necessarily make us happy but we do them anyway thus the being unhappy.I belive society is evolving and this might not be true in the future but in the past it was very much there and currently also the situation exists. When I find something interesting I just post it.
